We only offer FEMALE puppies or dogs for fostering ................................... The fostered dog lives with her foster family most of the year, returning to us for mating and sometimes for whelping (birth of puppies). .............. Our Foster Agreement provides for the puppies to be born with the foster family OR for the fostered dog to return to us for the birth of her puppies. When the puppies are 8+ weeks old either the foster dog returns to her foster family or the puppies are collected by Waratah Puppies. The fostered dog then remains with her family until her next mating (approx once per year for 3 – 4 years depending on age etc). ................................ When the fostered dog retires from breeding she is desexed and becomes the foster family's family pet to continue to enjoy and love..…… ................................................................ ....................................................... Because we need to visit our foster families from time to time, for collecting the fostered dog for mating and/or for whelping, collecting puppies or returning the fostered dog to her family – we can only offer a place in our program to families who live within a few hours of Canberra and to families who most often have a family member at home or working from home. If the fostered dog is having her puppies at her foster family’s home, it is vital that somone is at home for the birth of the puppies. .......................................................... .............................................
